Message from the President
Dear Colleagues and Supporters,
As we embark on 2025, I am filled with optimism and determination for the Centre for Climate Change Research (CCCR). Our mission to develop innovative solutions to combat climate change has never been more critical, especially in light of recent findings. A report from Environment and Climate Change Canada highlighted that human-induced climate change significantly increased the likelihood of Canada’s severe heat waves in 2024. This underscores the urgency of our work in reducing greenhouse gas emissions and developing sustainable technologies.
In response, CCCR is intensifying efforts in several key areas:
Carbon Capture and Utilization: We are advancing research in biological processes that convert CO₂ into valuable products, aiming to reduce global CO₂ emissions by 60%.
Urban Organic Agriculture: Our initiatives focus on reducing greenhouse gas emissions through sustainable urban farming practices, contributing to both food security and environmental health.
Food Waste Reduction & Circular Economy: We are actively working on solutions to minimize food waste, supporting a circular economy that maximizes resource efficiency and sustainability.
Accelerator & Startup Support: CCCR is proud to support organizations, including startups, by providing grants, expert mentorship, and resources to accelerate climate-focused innovations.
International Collaboration: We are excited to announce that the CCCR International Conference will return in 2025, providing a platform for global experts to share insights and strategies to combat climate change.
Our progress is a testament to the dedication of our researchers, partners, and supporters. Together, we are making significant strides toward a sustainable future. I encourage you to stay engaged with our work and participate in our upcoming initiatives. Thank you for your unwavering commitment to our shared mission.
