Driving AI Adoption in Ontario: CCCR at the Executive Roundtable

The Centre for Climate Change Research continues to contribute to important conversations that connect technology, sustainability, and innovation. Recently, CCCR CEO and President Dr. Azizur Rahman was invited to join an Executive Roundtable on AI adoption in Ontario.

The session was hosted by the Toronto Region Board of Trade in collaboration with the World Trade Centre Toronto. It brought together six C level leaders from small and medium sized enterprises across sectors such as manufacturing, agri tech, marketing services, and lighting design. The goal was to explore practical ways to integrate artificial intelligence into business operations.

Discussions highlighted how AI can improve efficiency, support innovation, and strengthen long term competitiveness. At the same time, participants reflected on challenges such as workforce adaptation and the integration of AI into existing workflows.

A key idea that emerged was the importance of using AI as an assistive tool that supports people rather than replacing them. This approach helps organizations adopt AI in ways that are more inclusive, ethical, and effective.

Dr. Rahman shared insights on aligning AI strategies with sustainability goals. His contributions emphasized that responsible use of technology can support both economic growth and environmental priorities, which remain central to CCCR’s mission.

The roundtable was facilitated by Vinicius Morandi and included contributions from industry leaders such as Miassar Attar, Bob Benner, Ray Williams, Lisa H., and Tharsini Annalingam. The group exchanged perspectives and identified practical approaches that can help organizations move forward with confidence in an evolving AI landscape.

For CCCR, participation in this roundtable reflects an ongoing commitment to advancing responsible innovation. As AI continues to shape industries, CCCR remains engaged in conversations that ensure technology is used in ways that are meaningful, sustainable, and forward looking.
